What is a control app?
A 'control app' (cApp) is a unit of control value to the cloud user.
A cApp responds to a specific instance of control that a cloud user would like to apply to their cloud services. Each control app is self-contained and can be configured by the user to match specific business and technical requirements of the cloud service being managed. A user will apply a collection of one or more control apps to mange their cloud services.
For example, a user could apply a 'CPU Rightsizing' cApp together with a 'Bill Control' cApp to a set of public cloud IaaS instances to optimize their service delivery while ensuring that total costs of the delivered service is properly managed (no runaway bills from your CSP).
Technically, a cApp represents the unit of deployment within sense (and therefore controlmycloud) containing all the necessary configuration, user data, meta data and access rights, to deploy a cloud control execution unit within the the runtime sense server(s). The business rule(s) that support the SLA, KPI thresholds and adjustment actions are include in the cApp package.
