sense

sense™ is the cloud service level management software for automating….why, when and how .…. cloud oriented computing resources are utilized to attain defined business goals.

Software based Service Level Agreements (SLA) empower the business stake holders to set and receive guaranteed levels of service from business systems and applications offered by their service providers, be they internal IT or external providers, or even a mix of the two.   sense allows business to define, maintain and enforce fulfillment of business and compliance policies from internal IT operations and external cloud services.

sense enables the implementation of service level policies according to the mutually agreed upon priorities of the business as expressed to its technology service providers. sense is deployed in your data center(s) as a distributed JEE platform and provides a full suite of run time engines, SLA authoring tools, deployment configuration, adapters and adapter SDK to allow custom deployment. sense is particular suited for enterprises, system integrators, cloud service providers and telcos looking to provide dynamic and transparent control of private, public and hybrid cloud services.

sense continually monitors business defined KPIs within high value applications. If stress in any of the KPI thresholds set by the business is detected, sense will evaluate and determine if additional resources are needed to maintain service levels.  sense will then identify, request and/or directly provision additional resources to bring the service back into its Cloud SLA requirements.  This is elastic provisioning (and deprovisioning) - the goal is to enforce resource management policies to provide just-enough just-in-time to match the declared service level requirements.

sense is designed to ensure that higher priority business services are dynamically provided additional levels of computing resources to handle peak and emergency workloads seamlessly.  sense thrives together with existing and emerging application platforms in order to manage and route incoming demand to the most appropriate, performance oriented delivery service according to business rules and thresholds.  sense transparently supports and bridges between SOA, virtual and cloud based application service platforms covering all cloud distribution models (private, public, hybrid) and service deployment models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).

sense empowers application designers and builders to ask business sponsors more meaningful business related questions that are made actionable within the application, such as:

  • what are the business rules and KPIs that address the value of this service, versus that of other services?
  • what actions do you want to occur if the service is hit by unexpected peak loads or the network goes down?
  • how do you want to handle your higher priority user groups, such as ‘gold’ member requests differently from ‘silver’ and ‘bronze’ members?
  • what company or legal policies do you want to implement within your use of cloud SLA IT services?
  • how do you want to implement service level management (SLA) in your cloud initiatives

sense is architected and developed from the ground up to focus on maintaining business driven SLAs and policies in your most valuable applications across your internal IT and external service and cloud computing providers.
